As you may know, every year I try to make holiday ornaments for my clients. It’s the best way I know how to show them how much I truly love and appreciate all of their continuous support throughout the years, and, not to mention, it’s a memory that will last a life time in their ornament collection.
This year I decided to make salt dough ornaments. I like the simple, rustic yet classic look these have, and they’re SUPER easy to make!! All you’ll need a cookie cutter of your choice, (or a wine glass, tee-hee) twine or string, some type of texture, (in this case I used drawer liner) and beads. Of course you can always add your own personal touch on these too.
Salt Dough Recipe
1 Cup Flour
1/2 Cup Salt
1/2 Cup water
Directions
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until dough ball is made (I had to add about 1/4 cup more flour)
Sprinkle flour down on surface to roll out
Roll until 1/4 inch thick
Roll your texture over the rolled out dough
Cut with cookie cutter
Place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet
Poke holes to tread with twine (I used a toothpick)
Let air dry 36-48 hours
Ta-da!! Super easy and they’re are SO many different things you can imprint into these too- I stamped little E’s hand into one (ok, two, just in case one breaks) and Josh made a few holiday ornaments to put on our own tree as well!!
So if you’re one of my lovely clients- I spoiled the surprise, but know that I love you so and can’t wait to see photos of them on your trees!!!
Much love, and happy holidays!!
